Brief Description:  Tri-gear motor mount fitted

Had an email from Kitlog that this site is their "builder of the month" page. Good advertising for Sonex.

I needed to shorten one leg of the tri-gear motor mount about 1/8". Prepared for the welding by cutting the leg with an angled cut, beveling the edges slightly for a v-butt weld, fitted a sleeve to the ID, cleaned all the parts, cleco the sleeve in place once things were aligned, and had it welded today. The cleco holes were plug welded after the cut was welded, so it is again sealed against weather as in the original configuration. Things now bolt together ok.

Bought a used transponder and took it into a local avionics shop today just to see if it worked. They did a quick check at no charge, determining that it will need a slight alignment, but otherwise a functional unit. I'll get the alignment done after final installation.

Had an email from UPS that 4 boxes weighing 80# was shipped from Sonex. I guess my engine is on its way, at least part of it unless the 80# is the heaviest of 4 boxes. Guess I got the engine mount sorted out just in time.
